Powerlifting In Leadership

One of my newest hobbies or interest in life is working out. I constructed the metaphor of "Powerlifting in Leadership" because in leadership as well as in the gym you have to build of strength in order to ensure more pressure. In leadership the strength I am building up is handling various leadership roles and the responsibility and duty that is associated with. At times the weight may seem unbearable and I might have to lower the weight but overall if I continue to strive and develop my muscles in leadership it will allow me to endure more weight.

Your Validation Is Not Important !

Joan Trumpauer Mulholland is an amazing woman. Her story was beyond extraordinary. She truly defines what it means to call oneself a leader. The hardships and obstacles that she faced and overcame spoke volumes of what she wants to see in her later years to come. Mulholland embodies what it takes to impact others and change the world. She expressed the importance of going with what you feel even when the ones who are closest to you don't follow. She explained how throughout out her numerous imprisonments she never gave up on her goal because if she did she would not be the same person she is today. Her ideal leadership has altered my leadership skills in which I am learning not to care about what someone else is saying regardless if they favor my opinion or not. It is hard to go with your gut feeling when many do not follow. Now seeing what Mulholland did even when many stood against her shows how much potential I hold if I just let go and say what I truly feel. Her story will forever resonant in my heart because I forever reflect on her courageous endeavors and how she made a difference in society and in my life.

My Passion !

My passion is simple , I really like to impact others. I believe that this is one the strongest qualities that I possess. Growing up in life I was always told that I have the ability to change the lives of others. I never knew what it meant to change lives and as I got older the more people I have came in contact with the more I gain reassurance of what my goal in life is. Even to this day I am not aware that I possess this quality in myself even though many people see that quality in me. Its hard to believe that only being eighteen years old that I hold the ability to impact so many lives. I have accepted the challenge in life head on and going in with all that I have to offer. Impacting others is my soul passion in life because many people have impacted me and inspired me to do great things in life. I believe that if it was not for the people that had influence in my life, friends, family , church , my school, and community, I know I would not be the person I am right now. I am sure people choose a passion because it something they enjoy doing or something that comes easy or natural. My passion is far from easy and though it may seem enjoyable then burden of letting someone down lays heavy on my mind every time I hear someone new say , "I see great things in you, you will change lives and impact many". My passion is something that I enjoy doing however it bares a lot of responsibilities.

I Am Me !

It amazing to truly sit back and understand how many people stood up during our history to seek a better living for those who were to come after. I am in complete awe at the courage King had to speak amongst the many who doubted him and stand in support with those who wanted to see his dream come to past. It is true to say that even now, after civil rights movements, we as a nation are still not free. We still find incidents were people still demonstrate cruel and usual punishments to those of their kind and others. King stood before many to speak about how fed up he was to see people continually tear down and tear apart people. He had a dream that day to see people of all races, gender, cultures, and sexuality come together and not discriminate against what makes each other different but stand together and realize that each of us share a commonality, we are human. I am me and that is all I can, stands strong with me ! I cannot persuade anyone to believe what I believe, do what I do , wear what I wear because that is what makes each of us different. However, I can respect the decisions that each person has made during their lifetime because it expresses the individuality that each of us possess. College has truly broaden my spectrum on how I perceive things different , I am amazed at my growth and development as a person and I am egger to see how much I will progress.
